PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles played well on its senior night against No. 5 North Kitsap, rallying from a two-goal deficit to tie the match in the second half before the Vikings responded for a 4-2 Olympic League girls soccer win Thursday at Wally Sigmar Field.
“We came out more aggressive, attacked 50/50 balls a little more and were a little more crisp,” coach Daniel Horton said.
Becca Manson found Paige Mason at the top of the 18-yard box and Mason found the net in the 42nd minute.
Izzy Felton tied the game up at 2-all in the 54th. “She scored on a really nice header off another Teanna Clark corner kick,” Horton said.
North Kitsap, however, went back up with a 61st minute goal and added insurance in the 68th.
“We really played well, but to beat a top-5 team like North Kitsap you really have to play great,” Horton said.
“We have a great group of seniors this year with Mason, Felton and Maeve Croteau, all of whom happen to be team captains.”
Port Angeles (7-6-0) is off until a match at Bremerton on Friday.
Bainbridge 2, Sequim 1
BAINBRIDGE — Some tough calls reversed a Sequim goal and allowed the Spartans to tie the game before winning late.
The Wolves led 1-0 at halftime after freshman Olive Bridge let loose with a left-footed shot from 25 yards out in the 20th minute that beat the goalkeeper to the right.
“We had an opportunity to go up 2-0, Raimey Brewer sent in a corner kick that Katie Morris put in the back of the net, but it was called off for obstruction of the goalkeeper,” Sequim coach Ken Garling said.
Bainbridge then capitalized after a Spartans player bumped into Wolves goalkeeper Kalli Grove, kneeing her in the face and causing her to drop the ball, which was promptly put in net.
Bainbridge added the winning goal in the final minute.
Sequim (9-3-0) hosts Bremerton on Tuesday.

They were really ready on defense. We worked on a drill on hitter coverage and digging the ball up if it was blocked, they really did well at keeping the ball up and alive and giving us more chances.”
