COVINGTON — The Quilcene softball team won its sixth straight Sea-Tac 1B League title a with 20-2 rout over second-place Rainier Christian.
The win Tuesday also assured the Rangers their seventh-straight trip back to the 1B State Tournament.
Rainier Christian came in to the game just one game behind 7-0 Quilcene (12-1 overall), but the Rangers quickly put the game completely out of doubt with a 13-run second inning.
Madison Coffey hit a home run, Alexis Gray had a three-run double and Erin Macedo went 5 for 6 with four RBIs.
Bailey Kieffer won her 10th game of the year, pitching four innings and giving up one earned run. She also hit 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
Quilcene has now won 41 Sea-Tac 1B League games in a row.
The Rangers played Evergreen Lutheran at home Wednesday in their final two regular-season games. Quilcene will host the 1B District Tournament beginning Tuesday. The Rangers’ first district game is on May 18. The Rangers are already assured of a berth at state as the No. 1 Sea-Tac 1B seed.

Sequim 4, North Kitsap 1
POULSBO — The Sequim Wolves wrapped up their league play red-hot, beating North Kitsap 4-1 to finish in second place in the Olympic League 2A Division.
The Wolves won their last four league games and five out of their last six, losing only to league champion Port Angeles. They finished Olympic League 2 Division play 8-4 (10-7 overall). The Wolves played Coupeville Wednesday in a nonleague game to finish the regular season.
Sequim scored three runs in the first inning on base hits from Jordan Bentz, Isabelle Dennis, Shelby Jones and Latisha Robideau, then clamped down on the Vikings to snuff out any thoughts of a comeback.
Isabelle Dennis went the distance for the win and Bobbi Sparks had two hits. Coach Tim Lusk credits Dennis’ performance and strong defense by the Wolves for shutting down North Kitsap.
While Sequim is in second place, the Vikings had a doubleheader Wednesday against last-place Bremerton. If the Vikings sweep that doubleheader, they will end up tied with Sequim at 8-4 (and Sequim and North Kitsap split two games). So Sequim will either be a No. 2 or a No. 3 Olympic seed — depending on the tiebreakers — at the West Central District 3 2A tournament that begins May 19.
If Sequim ends up a No. 2 seed, the Wolves would play the South Puget Sound League No. 8 seed in their first District game. If they end up a No. 3 seed, they would play the SPSL No. 4 seed.
Port Angeles will be the No. 1 seed out of the Olympic League. Port Angeles and Sequim will play their District games at Sprinker Fields in Spanaway.
Forks takes two
FORKS — The Forks softball girls swept North Beach at home 19-0 and 16-1.

Baseball Quilcene 7, Mount Rainier Lutheran 0
TACOMA — The Rangers got a complete-game gem from pitcher Andy Johnston, keeping their postseason alive with a 7-0 win over Mount Rainier Lutheran.
Johnston went the full seven innings, striking out 11 and giving up just five hits and no walks against a team that went 7-2 in the Sea-Tac 1B League.
At the plate, the Rangers’ Owen Reynolds’ had three hits and a walk, while Johnston had a double and Ace Elkins a two-run single.
The Rangers (8-5, 9-6) are out of the loser-out phase in the Tri-District 1B tournament and will play at least two more games to try and qualify for the state 1B tournament. They play Naselle at 4 p.m. today. If they win, they play for the District championship Saturday. If they lose, they play in the third-place game — also on Saturday — as the Tri-District takes three teams to state.
Coach Darrin Dotson said the Rangers went 1-1 with Naselle last year, so they know this team well. “They’re a pretty well coached team,” he said.
