SEQUIM — Sequim seniors Nick Johnston and Brett Wright lead the list of area baseball players receiving All-Olympic League honors.
Wright and Johnston, who helped Sequim finish second in the league, both were voted to the first team by the league’s coaches, Wright as an outfielder and Johnston as a pitcher.
Port Angeles sophomore outfielder Jace Bohman also was voted to the first team.
Olympic third baseman and pitcher Shane Matheny was picked as the league MVP, while Klahowya’s Dan Zuber is the coach of the year and North Mason wins the team sportsmanship award.
Port Angeles has three players on the second team: Junior shortstop Logan Ciaciuch, sophomore outfielder Eathen Boyer and senior designated hitter Jordan Shepherd.
Shepherd also received honorable mention as a pitcher.
Sequim freshman second baseman also is on the second team, as are Port Townsend’s Sean Dwyer, a junior utility player, and Jacob King, a senior outfielder.
Receiving honorable mention for the Wolves are freshman shortstop Dylan Lott, sophomore pitcher Nigel Christian and junior pitcher Tanner Rhodefer.
Joining Shepherd in earning honorable mention for the Roughriders are senior third baseman Ryan Mudd, senior first baseman Larsson Chapman and sophomore pitcher Travis Paynter.
Port Townsend senior pitcher Cody Russell was the Redskins’ lone honorable mention recipient.
Forks Spartans honored by Evergreen League
FORKS — Forks placed a player on the baseball and softball All-Evergreen 1A League second teams.
Reece Moody, a sophomore infielder, was named to the all-league baseball second team.
Seniors Reece Hagen and Reis Lawson both received honorable mention.
For the Forks softball team, senior infielder Emily Klahn was voted to the second team.
Softball honorable mention recipients are senior Courtnie Paul and sophomore Halle Palmer.
