PREP VOLLEYBALL: Forks sweeps Chimacum

FORKS — Forks dispatched Chimacum with relative ease in a three-set sweep, 25-16, 25-17, 25-9 in a nonleague volleyball match on Tuesday night.

The Spartans (4-0) remained unbeaten in nonleague matches to open the season with the victory.

Natalie Lausche had 100 percent serving and totaled eight aces in the match. Lausche served 14 points in a row for Forks during the third game to seal the win. She added seven kills for the Spartans.

Freshman Kyra Neel added six kills for Forks, Chloe Leverington chipped in with five kills and Rian Peters added four kills and five aces.

Emily Adams led the Spartans with 15 assists while Kray Horton added nine.

Forks hosts Rochester tonight in another nonleague contest.

Chimacum (2-3) visits rival Port Townsend at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

North Mason 3, Port Angeles 0

BELFAIR — The Riders fell 25-14, 25-21 and 25-16 to the Bulldogs on the road.

“Sophomore outside hitter Kennedy Bruch received a special recognition award from the first referee for her competitiveness, sportsmanship and hard work,” Port Angeles coach Jennifer Reynolds said.

“He said officials honor only 12 [or so] athletes during the season. It’s a huge honor.”

Bruch had two aces, four kills and nine digs for the Riders.

Junior setter Camille Stensgard served 13 of 13 and had 21 assists.

Sophomore outside hitter Emi Halberg served 7 of 7 and added 9 digs.

Junior middle blocker Ava Brenkman had four kills, two stuff blocks and served 5 of 5 with one ace.

Port Angeles (1-2, 2-2) hosts North Kitsap (2-0, 3-1) tonight at 6:45 p.m.

Sequim drops pair

The young Wolves dropped a pair of matches to start the week, losing a nonleague contest to Klahowya on Monday 25-20, 25-21, 25-11 and getting swept 3-0 by North Kitsap on Tuesday.

No details were reported.

Sequim (1-3, 1-4) visits North Mason on Tuesday.
