“It was the silly mistakes that caught up with us in the end,” Redskins coach Nettie Hawkins said.

“PA is a well-rounded team, and ran a quicker tempo than us, and we seemed to be a step behind the whole night.

“There is always plenty of room for improvements.”

Port Townsend (1-1, 2-5) plays at Kingston (1-1, 3-3) on Tuesday.

Port Angeles (2-0, 4-3), currently tied for first place with North Kitsap and Sequim, hosts Bremerton (0-1, 0-7).

Sequim 3, Klahowya 0

SEQUIM — The Wolves won in three sets to remain in a three-way tie for first place in the Olympic League with Port Angles and North Kitsap.

Sequim won 25-20, 25-14, 25-23.

The Wolves were led by Alyse Armstrong, who had 24 assists, two kills and one stuff block, and Caitlin Stofferahn’s 12 kills and two stuffs.

“We played very well as a team,” Sequim coach Jennie Webber Heilman said of Thursday’s match.

“Alyse was setting well and spreading out our offense. Caitlin was getting some great swings at the net, plus getting some good blocks.

“Overall we were serving well with 90 percent serving, which made it hard for Klahowya to run their offense.”

Hannah Hudson added 11 perfect passes and 24 digs, and Emma LeBlanc added 14 digs and was 24/24 serving with two aces.

Kate Harker contributed five kills and two stuff blocks to the Wolves’ win, Kylee Salazar had five kills and one stuff block, Emily Wallner had five kills, and seven digs and Sydney Munn finished with three kills.

Sequim (2-0, 5-3) plays at North Mason (0-1, 1-7) on Tuesday night.

QUILCENE — The Rangers remained undefeated on the season by opening 1B Sea-Tac League play with a three-set sweep over the 613s.

Quilcene beat Puget Sound Adventist Academy 28-26, 25-17, 25-17.

“This was our first league game and the first game was very close, but we stayed mentally strong and continued working hard,” Rangers coach Joni Crowell said of Thursday’s match.

“We are a young team, so pressure situations are great for us to build our teamwork skills.

“Our serving percentage was lower than it has been this season, so we will be focusing on serving under pressure and learning to keep hitting hard even when the score is close.”

Quilcene senior Kiani Clissold was 10 for 12 serving with an ace, seven kills and four digs.

Sammy Rae had an ace, five kills, two blocks and three digs.

Freshman Allie Jones served 14/17 with a pair of aces, 19 assists and two tips for kill.
