PREP VOLLEYBALL: Port Townsend’s season ends with loss to Charles Wright

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend volleyball team lost its 1A Tri-District play-in match to Charles Wright Academy 3-1.

The Redskins started the match with a 25-20 win in the opening set, but the Tarriers responded to win the next three sets (25-23, 25-7, 25-19) to take the match.

Rio Golden had a team-high eight kills for Port Townsend in Tuesday’s match, along with two aces and eight digs.

Megan Lee led the Redskins with 18 digs, while Amy Hemsley had 17 assists, seven digs, two kills and a block, and Baili Shaw had 11 digs and two kills.

Megan Juran finished with five kills, thee aces and seven digs, and Trisha Reeves added four kills and a block. Avery Selisch contributed two kills and three digs and Addi Richert had two kills.

Port Townsend finish the season with a 3-11 record. The 1A Redskins made it to the Tri-District play-in game by finishing sixth in the 2A Olympic League.

Coach Nettie Hawkins said Port Townsend is only losing one senior, so the Redskins should return a fairly experienced squad next season.
