SEQUIM — Sequim High School’s new running track made its official debut Thursday, welcoming five North Olympic Peninsula schools and Kingston to a seven-team Olympic League meet, the first held in Sequim since 2021.
The former track was demolished last July and replaced at a cost of $363,299 under the district’s Capital Projects Levy that voters approved in 2021. The pole vault runway also was relocated for about $39,000, and stadium lights were replaced for about $85,000.
The track was last resurfaced in 1996, and manufacturers recommend replacement every 10 years.
