PORT ANGELES — Registration for the 19th annual North Olympic Discovery Marathon and the third annual Run the Peninsula Series for 2021 opens today.

The NODM will be held June 5-6 and the RTP series is run throughout the year. The Elwha River Bridge Run (5K/10K) will be Feb. 6, the Railroad Bridge Park (5K/10K) will be run April 24, the Larry Scott Trail (5 /10K /Half Marathon) will be held Oct. 16 and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Run (5K /10K) will be run Dec. 4.

In addition, the Run the Peninsula Virtual Series will continue in 2021 and participants have all of 2021 to complete all five events virtually.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the first two in-person events of the season — the Elwha Bridge Run and Railroad Bridge Park — will have limited registration spots available. These two in-person events are expected to fill very quickly.

The 2021 Run the Peninsula Race Series medals highlight local tribes. The Port Angeles Marathon Association partnered with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe to create the 2021 medals.

The medals are based on existing tribal artwork and were designed in collaboration with the tribes. The medals magnetize to a wooden stand to form a tribal totem.

If people run all five races, they will receive a wooden totem as well. All medals and wooden totems are made in the U.S.
