SPORTS BRIEF: Wilder Senior loses tight pitchers’ duel

SPOKANE — The Wilder Sr. baseball team got an outstanding performance from Chance Wilson, but lost a close pitchers’ duel 2-1 against the Boys of Summer Saturday in their third game at the Gonzaga Midsummer Classic.

Wilson certainly deserved a win. He went six innings, gave up just three hits and walked just two, giving up one earned run. He also struck out four. But, an unearned run was the difference in the game. Colton McGuffey also pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two and giving up a hit.

Wilder Sr. managed five hits in the and Boys of Summer just four.

Carson Jackson continued his hot hitting for Wilder, going 2 for 4. Gavin Guerrero also had two hits and a run scored. Joel Wood also had a hit.

The loss has Wilder Sr. is looking for its first win at the Edmonds showcase.
