Playing in the girls’ varsity division, the Next Door Gastropub Olympic Avalanche Black eighth-grade team lost in the championship to the Port Angeles High School Varsity team 41-37 in the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation April Fools’ Extravaganza.

“I’m very proud of the way the girls competed in the championship against the Port Angeles High School varsity girls. We were right there the whole way. Myra Walker and MJ Cooke really stepped up and stood out for us in this game. There’s no shame in these kids finishing second in the high school bracket. I’m hopeful they’ll receive an opportunity to show what they can do next year as freshman at PAHS,” said Olympic Avalanche Black coach Joe Marvelle.

OAB first beat Quilcene High School 76-17. The Black were led by Cooke with 24 points and Emilia Long with 21 points. In its next game, the Black beat the Lakewood Lady Flames 67-15.
