CHIMACUM — Erin Bainbridge drove in a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Chimacum softball a 7-6 walk-off win over Cedar Park Christian.
The Eagles scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 6-6 going into the bottom half of the inning.
Cydney Nelson led off the inning for the Cowboys with a base hit up the middle. She came around to score the winning run on Bainbridge’s deep hit down the left-field line.
“Very exciting game,” Cowboys co-coach Lauralee Kiesel said.
With the win, Chimacum improves to 5-4 in the Nisqually League (6-5 overall).
After falling behind 3-1, the Cowboys grabbed the lead with a three-run third inning.
Big inning
Mallori Cossell started the rally with a double to left. Ashley Kelly followed with a walk, and she and Cossell advanced a base on a single by Nelson.
Cossell scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Bainbridge.
A few batters later, Krista Hathaway came to bat with two outs and drove in Kelly and Nelson with a single, giving Chimacum a 4-3 lead.
The Cowboys extended their advantage to 6-4 with a run by Megan Dukek on a single by Kelly in the fourth inning and another by Kristen Castillo on a Kiersten Snyder hit.
Nelson earned the win by pitching the last three innings in relief.
Ryley Eldridge started the game for the Cowboys and pitched four innings.
She was struck by a line drive in the first inning (the ball was deflected toward Bainbridge, who picked it up and threw it to first for the third out of the inning), but remained in the game.
“Ryley was hit pretty hard, but she was determined to stay in the game,” Kiesel said.
Chimacum plays at Vashon (0-11) on Monday. The Cowboys beat the Pirates 13-3 in late March.

PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders returned to their winning ways following their loss to Sequim, but they are still struggling at the plate, according to coach Randy Steinman.
Port Angeles scored just three runs, its second lowest output of the season, following only its shutout loss to the Wolves on Wednesday.
The Riders pitching duo of Cara Cristion and Dove Lucas held the Bulldogs (4-8, 5-8) to four hits. Cristion earned the win and struck out five batters in five innings.
Raelyn Lucas drove in two runs for Port Angeles, and Maddy Hinrichs contributed two hits.

POULSBO — The Roughriders maintained the stronghold on second place in the Olympic League with an messy win over the Vikings.
The two teams had as many combined errors — 11 — as hits.
Port Angeles pitcher Sarah Steinman held North Kitsap in check for five innings, striking out seven and allowing just one run in five innings. Dove Lucas pitched the final two innings for the save.
The Riders (11-2, 12-2) and Vikings (5-7) face each other again Wednesday in Port Angeles. Before that, the Riders host third-place Kingston (9-3) on Monday.

FORKS — The Spartans managed only two hits and were held scoreless in their doubleheader loss to the Eagles (7-1, 10-2), who are tied for first place in the SWL-Evergreen Division.
In the first game, a four-run fourth inning gave Elma a comfortable 6-0 lead, which it extended to 8-0 with a pair of runs in the seventh.
Jillian Raben and Courtnie Paul recorded Forks’ two hits in the game.
Forks’ offense was held hitless in the second game.
Spartans coach Chelsey Davis praised Alex Henderson for her strong defense in both games.

BREMERTON — The Redskins fought back admirably, but were unable to overcome an 8-run second inning by the Knights.
Port Townsend opened the game with three runs in the top of the first, but fell behind 10-3 when Bremerton (4-11, 4-12) plated two runs in its half of the first and then eight in the second.
The Redskins scored a pair of runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to close the gap.
Mia Henderson had three hits, including a triple, for Port Townsend.
Rose Gitelman had a double and a triple, Gen Polizzi tripled and Megan Lee contributed two hits.

POULSBO — The Roughriders battled toe-to-toe with the preseason favorite to win the Olympic League.
With one game left in the regular season, Port Angeles (8-7) is fighting with Klahowya (8-6) and North Mason (7-8) for the fourth and fifth spots in the Olympic League tournament, which begins Wednesday at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
Hayden Gunderson, who pitched for the first time earlier in the week, held the Vikings to five hits and two runs over six innings.
“We played hard, and I am not disappointed with this loss. We played like we are capable of,” Port Angeles coach Chad Wagner said.
“Hayden Gunderson did an amazing job on the hill and has proven himself to be a great competitor.”
Michael Konopaski had a hit, drove in a run and was intentionally walked twice for the Riders.
Port Angeles closes out its regular season Monday with a home game against Kingston (3-11).

PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders missed an opportunity to virtually lock up a Olympic League playoff spot by falling the Bulldogs at home.
“We did not play well at all, and [it] was very disappointing after such a great win against Sequim [on Wednesday],” Port Angeles coach Chad Wagner said.
“We came out with no energy, as if they were going to hand the game to us.”
The Riders managed only four hits, two of which came off the bat of Marcus Konopaski, who also drove in Port Angeles’ only run.
Chase Jangula took the loss, but struck out five batters in five innings.
The Riders did get some assistance in the postseason quest when North Mason’s win over North Kitsap earlier this month was changed to a loss because the Bulldogs played with an ineligible player.

SEQUIM — The Trojans delivered another harsh lesson to the young Wolves.
Sequim recorded only five hits, while Olympic pounded out 16.
Nick Johnston and Fred Serrano each had two hits for the Wolves, who fall to 3-11 in Olympic League play (5-11 overall).
Sequim plays at North Mason (7-8, 10-8) on Monday, and then concludes its season with a rematch with the Trojans (10-5, 10-7) on Wednesday.

Jonny Rogers put in a solid performance on the mound for Chimacum, limiting the Eagles to two hits and striking out five in seven innings.

The Cowboys had three hits, including a double by Chris Bainbridge.

PORT TOWNSEND — Cody Russell struck out nine Bulldogs, but it wasn’t enough for the Redskins to finish their season with a victory.
Port Townsend (1-15, 1-16) out-hit North Mason 10 to six, but were only able to bring two of those base runner around to score.
James Delagarza, Sean Dwyer, Matt Cain and Jacob King all had two hits for the Redskins, while Devon Courtney and Emmett Davis added a hit each.

KINGSTON — The Roughriders conceded an early goal but otherwise stayed with Olympic League-leading Kingston in the first half, trailing just 1-0 at halftime.
The Buccaneers, tied with North Kitsap for first with 33 points each, added two insurance goals in the second half.
The Riders created a few good scoring chances but were unable to capitalize on them.
Port Angeles forward Miki Andrus held the ball up well and distributed it for the offense.
Andrus’ right-footed shot in the second half beat the Kingston keeper but didn’t have enough pace on it to cross the goal line before being cleared away by a retreating Kingston defender.
Defenders Hayden Kays-Erdman and Tristan Isett had solid games for the Riders at the back along with goalkeeper Jack Doryland, who made multiple good saves.
In the midfield, Abinet Hayden stood out for the Riders, creating a lot of good combination play.
Andrus was named offensive player of the match while Isett and Doryland shared defensive honors and Hayden was selected as the transition player of the match.
Kingston best Port Angeles 3-0 in the JV game.
The Riders, 1-12-0, next host Klahowya on Thursday.

BELFAIR — Bulldog goalkeeper Alex Floathe shut out the Redskins in the Olympic League match.
Colin Ralston scored a goal and had an assist for North Mason, which improved to 5-9-0 in league with 14 points.
The Redskins are sitting in fifth place at 6-7-0 with 19 points.
Port Townsend next hosts Olympic (8-5-0) on Tuesday night.

Forks in eight-way
RAINIER — Kari Larson was a double winner for the Spartans at an eight-way SWL-Evergreen Division meet.
The Forks boys took fifth with 75 points while the girls had 82.5 points for sixth place.
Montesano claimed the boys title with 113.5 points while host Rainier and Tenino tied for the girls crown with 105.5 points each.
Adna was close behind with 100.5 while Napavine wasn’t a hair-width below that at 100.
Montesano edged out Forks for fifth, 83-82.5.
Larson, though, ruled the long-distance events by taking first in the 800 in a North Olympic Peninsula best time of 2:32.85, and in the 1,600 (5:54.80).
Forks had three other winners.
On the girls side, Sydney Christensen took first in discus (97-10) and third in shot put (31-04.25), and Tristina Smith was first in the high jump (4-06) and third in javelin (93-05).
Also for the girls, Erin Weekes was second in triple jump (29-01), and Mercedes Flores was fourth in discus (79-11).
In boys action. Shane WhiteEagle won the discus (125-11) and took second in shot put (44-0) while sophomore Miguel Morales captured third place in two events.
He took the bronze in discus (120-03) and javelin (128-09).
Also for the boys, Nate Pennington took second in the 400 meters (54.81) while Hugo Lucas took second in the 3,200 (11:16.13) and fourth in the 1,600 (5:05.39).
Chimacum in 4-way
EATONVILLE — The Cowboys had three individual champions at a four-way Nisqually League meet.
The boys took third with 22.5 points while the girls were fourth with 13.
Bringing home the gold were Daryl Settlemire in the discus in a North Olympic-best mark of 160-02, Melvin Thornton in a Peninsula-best long jump in 19-07, and Bailey Castillo in girls javelin with a Peninsula-best 115-02.
Others placing for the Cowboys were Thornton, third in the 300 hurdles (45.77), Katherine Carstensen, third in shot put (27-09), Ross Henley, third in triple jump (34-06), and Settlemire, fourth in javelin (115-0).
Girls Golf
Duke Streeter
PORT ANGELES — Sequim captured the 22nd annual Duke Streeter Invitational at Peninsula Golf Club on Friday.
The Sequim Wolves, with a team total of 167, were the 18-hole team scramble winners.
The Wolves edged out Kingston (169) for the team title.
Elisa Sallee and Maddy Fisher shot a 78 for Sequim, and teammates Brianna Kettel and Caitlin Stofferahn shot an 89.
The overall winners of the scramble were Kingston’s Kinda Smith and Aimee Zehrung with a low score of 77.
Port Angeles placed fourth in the 18-hole scramble. Dana Fox and Chloe Brown scored a 93, and Kylee Jeffers and Taylor Rutz had a 108, for a combined team score of 201.
Shelton took third with a team score of 188.
Fox won the closest to the hole on the fourth hole, and Olympic’s Lucy Winters took the honors on the 14th hole.
The longest drive went to Aimee Zehrung of Kingston.
The nine-hole scramble was won by Port Angeles’ Brittany McBride and Greta Gieseke, who shot a 50.
Bremerton’s Ava Clarridge and Tyra Short were second with a 52, and Sequim’s Kaylee Price and Cecilee Welch shot 53 to claim third place.
Roughriders Maddie Boe and Monica Gasper finished fifth with a score of 62.
The longest drive of the nine-hole scramble was Sequim’s Price on the sixth hole.
Port Angeles’ Boe won the closest to the hole on the fourth hole.
The Riders and Wolves face each other on Tuesday at Cedars at Dungeness.
