Sports: Forks improves to 2-0 in league

FORKS — In the end, Terry Jensen’s return to Forks was but a side note in a game filled with mistakes, a football game both teams seemed anxious to give away.

When a snap went between Forks punter Eric Palmer’s legs, setting up Montesano at Forks’ 3-yard line with 2:11 left to play, Friday’s Southwest Washington League game — Forks’ homecoming — seemed destined for overtime.

When Montesano fumbled on the very next play, it was almost laughable . . . for Forks fans anyway.

Palmer and Joey Sallee fell on the final fumble at the 4, and Spartan quarterback Mike Foster carried three times for a first down before kneeling out the clock.

Forks 14, Montesano 7.
