SPORTS: Peninsula College softball team loses doubleheader to Bellevue

PORT ANGELES – It was a rough day for the Peninsula College women’s softball team as the Pirates were rocked by Bellevue in a doubleheader Friday.

Bellevue blanked the Pirates in the first game 15-0 and held them to one run in the second, beating them 10-1 in five innings.

Ashleigh Carter pitched a gem for Bellevue in the opening game.

Carter struck out 11 and held the Pirates to only five hits.

Dena Houser and Michelle Senf each had a hit for the Pirates.

Bellevue’s pitching continued to shut down the Pirates in the second game.

Lauren Reid was brilliant on the mound for Bellevue.

Reid gave up just three hits and struck out four.

Tobey Varney led the way for Bellevue at the plate with three doubles.

Dena Houser scored the Pirates’ only run when she singled, stole second and scored on a wild pitch.
