VANCOUVER, Wash. — Peninsula College soccer swept its second road doubleheader in two days Thursday.
The Peninsula men’s and women’s teams each notched 1-0 victories over its Clark College counterparts as both moved into first place in the NWAACC West Division standings.
The men and women are both 3-0 in league play.
The women scored perhaps the most dramatic of the wins, with Shawna Thein scoring the game-winner in the 87th minute off a corner kick from Jackie Rodgers.
Pirates goalkeeper Ashley Manker earned her second straight shutout, helping the women move to 4-2-1 overall in their first season.
“Ashley and the defense had a great game,” Pirates men’s coach Andrew Chapman said. “The ladies worked hard and never gave up.”
Port Angeles graduate Dustin Walsh netted the men’s lone score on a free kick in the 46th minute.
Goalkeeper Jared Wilson had his second shutout in two days for the men, ranked second in the NWAACC and unbeaten at 5-0-2 overall.
