SPORTS: Port Angeles beats North Kitsap in a physical game Tuesday night to set up a crucial showdown with Sequim in boys basketball

POULSBO — Hayden McCartney’s 21 points led four players in double figures as the Port Angeles boys basketball team beat a physical North Kitsap squad Tuesday night.

The Roughriders won 64-52 to set up an important game against archrival Sequim for second place next week.

The Wolves, 10-3 in league and 13-4 overall, still have three games left while the Riders (12-3, 16-3) have the one left with Sequim this coming Tuesday.

Sequim will play league-leading Kingston on Friday night and Bremerton on Saturday evening before taking on the Riders in their second meeting of the season.

Port Angeles won its fifth game in a row and played their fifth contest in the past seven days.
