PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys soccer team’s four-match unbeaten streak ended in a 2-1 loss to the King ston Buccaneers on Tuesday night.
The Roughriders tied the match in the 26th minute when Forrest Epstein banged home an Owen Kays-Erdmann pass.
Yet Kingston’s Brian Bain broke the tie soon thereafter, finding the back of the net on a counter attack in the 35th minute for a 2-1 lead the Riders would never overcome.
“Kingston is one of the best teams in the league and we played with them,” Riders coach Chris Saari said of the Olympic League’s second-place squad.
“If we could have eliminated a couple of mistakes we could have gotten a couple of points out of it.”
Epstein was named the offensive player of the match.
Goalkeeper Jack Doryland was tabbed the defensive player and Kyle Bingham and Kays-Erdmann the transition players.
Port Angeles (3-4-1 in league, 4-8-1 overall) hosts Bremerton on Thursday.

SILVERDALE — John Textor netted a hat tick to lift the Wolves to their first Olympic League win in four tries Tuesday.
The senior midfielder scored his first goal on assists from Evan Watkins in the first half before adding two more scores in the 61st and 65th minutes to put the game away.
The first was unassisted, while Daniel Servin served up the third.
“We played really well tonight,” said Wolves coach Dave Brasher, whose team had gone 2-4-0 in its last six matches before Tuesday.
“We got good games from pretty much everyone. It was good to see.”
Sequim (4-4, 7-4) hosts Port Townsend on Friday at 6:45 p.m.

The Spartans, 6-5 in the Southwest Washington League and 7-7 overall, outshot Tenino 29-5.
“We dominated the game,” coach Brian Bowers said. “It was very frustrating. To save our lives, we couldn’t get the ball into the net.”
Tenino won in a shootout after the teams tied after regulation and two 5-minute overtime periods.
The Spartans, with one regular season game left, is in good shape by sitting in second place.
Their final game, at Rochester, is scheduled for Friday but Bowers is trying to push it back to Tuesday.
“They pushed our district play back a week, and so we are trying to push this game back so we won’t go a week without playing.”
Tenino took a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute but Forks tied it in the 65th minute on a goal by Wilson Avila-Luna. Juan Beltran had the assist.
Tenino didn’t win it until the fifth kicker in the shootout.
Chimacum 0, C. Christian 0
TACOMA — The Cowboys are still looking for their first Nisqually League win but came oh so close before settling for a tie with Cascade Christian on Tuesday.
The contest went into two overtimes but still the teams had to settle for a scoreless tie. There’s no shootout in regular league play.
Cascade outshot Chimacum, but barely, 8-5.
“Our goalkeeper had some very good saves,” coach Kevin Coate said.
Trevor Richardson, the second-string goalie, had four saves on the day.
“He really stepped up and played a good game.”
Eric Estrada played well on defense for the Cowboys while Caleb Brown had another strong game on offense.
Chimacum (0-7-1, 4-8-1) next plays at Charles Wright on Friday.

Girls Golf Port Angeles 114, Olympic 88
SEQUIM — The Riders claimed another Olympic League win at their home away from home, Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course, on Tuesday afternoon.
Olympic’s Tiffany Strafford took match medalist honors, shooting a 43 for 29 modified Stableford points in the nine hole match.
Yet the Riders’ depth overwhelmed the Trojans with three golfers shooting in the 40s: Emily Cook (45), Ev Grier (46) and Tracie DuPuis (49).
Port Angeles (5-1 in league) hosts Kingston on May 5, once again at Dungeness, before a showdown with unbeaten Sequim on May 6.

SEQUIM — The Roughriders and Wolves unofficially played each other while Port Angeles was taking on Olympic in an Olympic League match at Sequim’s Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course on Tuesday.
The powerhouse Wolves beat everybody with an outstanding 125 stableford points.
“My players amaze me every week,” Sequim coach Garrett Smithson said. “Again, they scored the highest points since I have been a coach.”
Zoei Zbaraschuk continued on her torrid domination of league play by capturing her 21st straight medalist honor against league competition.
She shot a 1-over 37 for 35 stableford points while Kim Duce had a season-best 27 and Hailey Estes had a season-best by six shots with 26.
Lisa Doan was next with 21 and Ashley Morton had 16 for Sequim.
Boys Golf Olympic 115, Port Angeles 102
PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders played a balanced game in the Olympic League match but was overwhelmed by the Trojans’ ace at Peninsula Golf Club on Monday.
Olympic’s Mike Noyes, the top 3A player in the league, shot a scorching 2-under 70 in the 18-hole match for 38 stableford points.
“That was the difference in the match,” coach Mark Mitrovich said about Noyes’ performance.
Jordan Negus was the top Rider in the match with an 81 for 27 points while Garrett Payton shot 87.
Baseball Winlock 10, Forks 2
WINLOCK — A seven-run fifth inning for Winlock ruined any chance the Spartans had for victory in the Southwest Washington League game Monday.
Forks was ahead 2-1 before Winlock blew the game open in the fifth.
“It was a good game unti the fifth,” coach Jerry DeFord said. “There was a bunch of walks and a couple of big hits and everything fell apart for us.”
It didn’t help that the teams were playing in driving rain for the first game of a doubleheader. The second contest was postponed.
“It was raining and miserable,” DeFord said.
Martin Contreras hit 2-for-3 for the Spartans while Michael Dean and Jon Gimlin both hit 2-for-4 each.
