SEQUIM — A solid defensive performance went unrewarded when the Wolves’ offense couldn’t get the ball in the goal Thursday.
“I was proud of our team, though,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said. “We played hard, and we played really well defensively.”
Defenders Hector Baylon and Irons Ring slowed the North Kitsap attack, and goalkeeper Byron Boots made multiple impressive saves.
But Garrett Wilder got past the defense for a goal in the seventh minute as did Raul DeLuna in the 50th minute.
Sequim’s offense did come close, though.
Donovan Lee hit the crossbars on one attempt, and another shot by Ryan Pinza missed just wide of the goal.
The Wolves next play at Olympic on Tuesday and at Kingston on Thursday.
Both games are important to Sequim’s playoff hopes.
“They’re pretty much must-wins for us,” Brasher said.
“If we can do that, we might sneak into the playoffs and hopefully have a chance to sneak up on some teams there.”
