BREMERTON — Less than a month into the girls basketball season, Port Angeles has set itself up as the Olympic League’s team to beat.
The Roughriders won a duel between the last two undefeated teams in league play by beating Bremerton 49-36 Friday night.
Just like it did during Wednesday night’s home win over North Kitsap, Port Angeles led 15-8 after one quarter.
Unlike that game, the Riders didn’t allow the Knights back in the game in the second quarter.
Port Angeles only added to its lead, again holding Bremerton to only eight points while the Riders netted 12 to lead 27-16 at halftime.
They led by as many as 15 in the second half.
Junior point guard Madison Hinrichs again led Port Angeles’ balanced scoring attack with 12 points.
Macy Walker put up 11 points, while Kristin Johnson and Bailee Jones contributed nine points apiece.
Sawyer Kluge topped Bremerton with 14 points. Eboni Harpes grabbed 15 rebounds and Asja Jackson grabbed 13 rebounds for the Knights.
Port Angeles has now dispatched every Olympic League team with a winning record with the exception of 4-2 Port Townsend. The Riders and Redskins won’t meet until Jan. 8.
Next up for Port Angeles (6-0, 6-1) is a rivalry tilt with recently rolling Sequim on Friday.

The victory puts Port Townsend at 4-2 in league play (5-2) overall. The Redskins have won four straight games.
Irina Lyons paced the Redskins’ offense with 11 points and Gabbi Hossack had 10.
North Kitsap, expected to be a contender in the Olympic League, dropped to 2-3 in league after a tough week in which they lost to Bremerton, Port Angeles and Port Townsend.
Rebekah Baugh scored 11 points for the Vikings and Kristin Brown, who poured in 18 points on Wednesday against Port Angeles, was held to just four points.

QUILCENE — Northwest Yeshiva only had five players, but it was more than enough to beat the Rangers in 1B Sea-Tac League action on Thursday night.
Quilcene head coach Briana Weller said the Rangers, who were without starting guard Allison Jones due to illness, struggled in all aspects of the game.
“Plain and simple, Yeshiva out-ran us up and down the floor,” Weller said.
“We were outsized and our defense was slack tonight.
“On offense, we failed to penetrate and run our plays consistently. Our shooting percentage from the field was only 25 percent tonight, and that really hurt us.”
The Rangers only managed 15 total rebounds in the game.
Bailey Kieffer led Quilcene in scoring with nine points.
Stephany Brown came off the bench and contributed two points by making her first field goal of the season.

ROCHESTER — The Spartans went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the SWL-Evergreen Division.
It wasn’t enough to get a victory, but coach Al Scheibner said his team showed a significant improvement.
“I thought we played our best game of the season so far,” he said.
“For once we played an entire game of good intense basketball.”
Thanks to a strong defensive effort, Forks trailed by just six points in the fourth quarter before Rochester pulled away.
“Defensively, we did a good job on stopping their screening offense until the very end of the game,” Scheibner said.
“We . . . had our opportunities. I think we got a little tired, as did they, at the end.”
The Spartans had a balanced offensive performance, with everyone scoring.
Jillian Raben paced the attack with 11 points while playing all 32 minutes.
Sassy Price, Courtnie Paul and Erin Weekes each scored seven points.

TACOMA — The Cowboys started slow and couldn’t recover in this Nisqually League showdown.
Chimacum managed just one point in the opening quarter and spotted Life Christian Academy an early 10-point lead.
“I can’t fully explain the first quarter, other than we seemed tense and they where more physical to start,” Chimacum coach Trevor Huntingford said.
“After that first quarter, we met them stride for stride, but unbalanced fouls called and free throws missed was what ended up being the difference.”
The Cowboys finished the third quarter with three starters on the bench with four fouls. They were also without key reserve Samantha Cerna, who missed the game with an injury.
“I give the bench a lot of credit,” Huntingford said.
“They held us in [the game] with a shot to win up to the last 1:30 [of the game].
“It by far is the hardest I have seen these girls work this year on the court as a unit. Although I am not huge on moral victories, I sure am proud of my team.”
Mallori Cossell was Chimacum’s top scorer with 14 points.
Kiersten Snyder added seven points and Lauren Thacker scored six.
Taylor Boles led Life Christian with 18 points and Maddy Long had 13.
Next up for the Cowboys (0-4, 0-5) is a home game Tuesday night against Cascade Christian.

Brocklesby scored 18 points, which led Sequim, grabbed nine rebounds and had six steals.
Carter finished with 14 points, nine assists, five boards and three steals. He also went 2 for 3 from beyond the 3-point line.
The two senior forwards had plenty of help in moving the Wolves to 4-1 in league and 4-2 overall.
Andrew Shimer had another solid night with 10 points (including 2 for 2 on 3-pointers) and five rebounds.
Alex Barry scored 11 points, and Anthony Pinza had six points to go along with five steals.

ROCHESTER — The Spartans edged the Warriors in a physical SWL-Evergreen Division battle on Friday.
Colton Raben scored 11 points for Forks despite missing all of the second quarter with a tooth injury.
Forks coach Rick Gooding said Raben’s tooth was pushed back and his mouth was bleeding.
He re-entered the game in the third quarter after the bleeding subsided.
“Colton came back and played the entire second half,” Gooding said.
“He’s a tough kid.”
Outside of Raben, Forks had a rough shooting night.
“We couldn’t buy a bucket,” Gooding said.
“We came out flat. I think we got the shots we wanted, we just couldn’t make them.”
Braden Decker scored 16 points for the Spartans and Mark Jacobson had eight.
Forks was without starting point guard Tre Harris, who was out with an ankle injury sustained earlier in the week against Neah Bay.
Next up for the undefeated Spartans (2-0, 7-0) is a big matchup with Hoquiam (1-0, 5-1) on Tuesday in Forks.
“Right now, everyone is in agreement that Hoquiam is the best team,” Gooding said.
“You have to get up for that game. There’s no way we can come out flat like we did [against Rochester] and win.”
