SPORTS: Port Angeles girls basketball team heads to state after shocking River Ridge in regionals

TACOMA — Krista Johnson and Macy Walker scored nine points each to spark the Port Angeles girls basketball team into the 2A state tournament.

The Roughriders, going against perennial state power River Ridge, held on late after taking a 25-16 halftime lead to nip the Hawks 41-38 in the winner-to-state, loser-out regional game at Mount Tahoma High School on Saturday.

7 Cedars Casino and No Diggity emerged champions as the Peninsula Volleyball League’s B Division Fall League post season came to a close. The 7 Cedars crew were tops in the division, stopping Lower Elwha 15-25, 25-10, 15-10 in the best-of-three championship match on Tuesday night.
