FORKS — It wasn’t much of a contest as the Spartans easily won the outmanned three-inning nonleague game Friday.

Forks improved to 2-1 and will open SWL-Evergreen Division play Monday at home in a doubleheader against Rochester.

The game has been moved up from Tuesday to Monday because of rainy weather expected by Tuesday.

“Rochester is a pretty solid club,” Forks coach Scott Justus said.

“Monday’s game will tell us where we’re at.

“Our girls are getting better. After we get a couple of [league] games under our belt, we will see where we are at.”

Brenden Carpenter, Eric Prosser and Tyler Philp found the back of the net for the Peninsula team.

Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Root had 17 saves on 25 shots, and was the big highlight for the Mountaineers.
