SEQUIM — The Sequim volleyball team remains perfect in the Olympic League and is one win away from winning the conference title outright.
The Wolves (7-0, 12-1) blasted Bremerton 3-0 on Thursday night and now only have archrival Port Angeles between them and a perfect league season.
The Roughriders and Wolves square off Tuesday night in Port Angeles for their final regular-season match.
The Riders (4-3, 5-7), meanwhile, are fighting for a playoff spot, tied for fourth place in league with Olympic, only a one-match lead on Kingston (3-4) going into their final matches.
The top five teams in league earn playoff matches with No. 4 and No. 5 in a loser-out pigtail match Thursday with the winner advancing to the league tournament Saturday at the league champion’s court, most likely Sequim.
The top four teams play for West Central District seeding.
The Wolves tuned up for Port Angeles by ripping the Knights (0-7) 25-10, 25-10, 25-9.
“We overpowered Bremerton,” Sequim coach Jennie Webber-Heilman said.
Hannah Hudson had two serving runs in the first game totaling 10 points while Rylleigh Zbaraschuk served 20 of 22 in the match with 13 points in a row with two aces in the third game.
Katelynne McDaniels served 13 of 15 and served 11 in a row with four aces in the second game.
Setter Taylor Balkan had 25 assists and she also played tough defense with nine digs.
Haleigh Harrison was strong at the net with five kills and three blocks while McDaniels earned a season-high seven kills and then added six digs.
Harrison and Hudson were doing well on defense, combining for 22 digs, 11 each.
It was Senior Night for the Wolves as Harrison, Balkan and Zbaraschuk — all with four years varsity experience each — and McDaniels — with three years varsity experience — played their final official home match.
It’s likely they will get to pay before home fans one more time as the Wolves should be hosting the league tournament this Saturday.

SILVERDALE — The Redskins and Trojans had to compete with each other as well as the wind and rain in this wet Olympic League showdown.
“From the moment we arrived in Silverdale the wind blew and the rain poured down,” Port Townsend coach Colin Foden said.
“The players were brave and at times heroic in their attempts to play good soccer.
“In the end, three goals were scored that might not have gone in during normal weather conditions.”
Olympic scored on two long shots in the 15th and 50th minutes to grab a 2-0 lead.
Irina Lyons got one over the goal line in the 58th minute as the Redskins mounted a second half comeback that ultimately fell short.
Lyons and Jewel Johnson both came close on a number of other attempts behind a counter-attacking style that caused fits for Olympic.
Foden was impressed with Alex Akins’ command and Lily Murdock’s performance at midfield.
“No points from this game but a fine performance all around.”
Port Townsend, 3-4 in Olympic League play, hosts Bremerton on Monday at Memorial Athletic Field in a rescheduled game.

POULSBO — The Roughriders saw proof of their improvement in Thursday’s loss to the Vikings.
“I’ve told the girls that we would be a much better team later in the season than early in the season,” Port Angeles coach Scott Moseley said.
“The top three teams outscored us 18-0 the first time we played them, but only 9-3 the second time around.”
Port Angeles fell to the Vikings 5-0 in the initial match-up.
The Riders performed well defensively in a game played in constant rainfall, but North Kitsap was able to possess the ball more and attempt more shots on goal.
Port Angeles goalkeeper Hayley Baxley managed to make 14 saves despite the wet conditions.
Along with Baxley, Karina Bohman was also named the defensive player of the game.
Next up for the Riders (3-5, 5-8-1) is Senior Night against rival Sequim at Civic Field on Tuesday.
