SPOKANE — Neah Bay rallied but its second-half comeback fell short against No. 3 Oakesdale in a 58-49 loss in the Class 1B Girls Basketball State Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon at Spokane Arena.
The No. 4 Red Devils (18-6) trailed 38-25 at halftime after allowing the Nighthawks to shoot 12 of 24 from the floor, including 4 of 5 from beyond the 3-point line.
Neah Bay clamped down defensively, limiting Oakesdale to eight third-quarter points to roar back into the contest.
Freshman guard Allie Greene warmed up from a rough first-half from the floor, hitting 6 of 11 shots after halftime, including three 3-pointers. Greene scored 13 of her game-high 18 points after the break.
The Red Devils pulled within five points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t get the buckets they needed to pull even or go ahead.
Neah Bay did hold Oakesdale (18-7) to 4 of 24 shooting from the floor in the second half, including 1 of 11 on 3-point shots.
The Red Devils will face the loser of a game between No. 7 Curlew and No. 1 Pomeroy in a loser-out contest on Friday at 12:15 p.m. A win Friday and Neah Bay will play at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for fourth/sixth place.
