SELAH — Port Angeles, Sequim and Quilcene began their respective state softball tournaments with losses before responding with wins Friday.

The Riders will play Colville on Friday night.

Sequim fell to Capital 4-1 in round one of the 2A tournament and then beat Ellensburg 7-6 in come-from-behind fashion.

Quilcene fell to Almira-Coulee-Hartline for the second straight year in its Class 1B opener, this time by a 14-4 score.

The Rangers then beat Oakville 10-3 in the consolation bracket and will face Curlew on Saturday 2 p.m. as they go for their second consecutive top-four finish.
