JOYCE — Neah Bay’s Josiah Greene was a three-time winner but the Crescent boys team edged the Red Devils for the team championship at the North Olympic League Sub-District meet at Crescent High School.
The Loggers had 52 points and the Red Devils, who won the league championship last week, finished with 49. Clallam Bay was a not-too-distant third with 43 points.
The Clallam Bay girls followed up their league championship by winning Wednesday’s meet with 68 points. Crescent took second with 51 points and Neah Bay was third with 13.
Greene took first in the boys 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and long jump.
Teammate Elisha Winck won the 110-meter hurdles and triple jump and Grayson Porter won the high jump for Neah Bay.
Jacob Bailargen took first in the 400 and 800 for Crescent. He also ran with the Loggers’ first-place 4×100-meter relay team along with Quinn’Tin March, Travis Walker and Dane Kjerulf.
March won the 300-meter hurdles for Crescent, Wyatt McNeesen took first in the shot put and Quenton Wolfer beat out Walker for the javelin championship.
Evan Messinger won the discus for Clallam Bay and teammate Wesley Hanson ran unopposed for a victory in the 1,600.
The Bruins also took first in the 4×400 relay with a team of Martin Cummings, Taylor Wrzesien, Kyle Keys and Sam Signor.
McCoy paces Bruins
Molly McCoy participated in four event wins to lead the Clallam Bay girls.
Individually, McCoy took first in the 300 hurdles and high jump. She also ran with the Bruins’ first-place 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams.
Joining McCoy in the 4×200 were Inga Erickson, Marissa May and Atokena Abe, and on the 4×400 team were Erickson, Kaylin Signor and Chelsey Ritter.
Clallam Bay also won the 4×100 relay with a team of Erickson, Abe, Mariah Lachester and May.
Signor earned a pair of wins on her own in the 1,600 and 3,200. Erickson won the 400, Abe took first in the 200 and May won the 100.
Crescent senior Devanie Christie notched three wins in the field events, taking first in the long jump, triple jump and javelin.
Christie also finished a close second to teammate Ryan Lester in the 100 hurdles. Lester was runner-up to Christie in the long jump and triple jump and to McCoy in the 300 hurdles.
Meghan Shamp won the discus for the Loggers and took second in the javelin and shot put.
Neah Bay’s Faye Chartraw won the shot put for the Red Devils’ only win of the meet. Chartraw also finished second to Shamp in the discus.
The top four finishers in each event (see results below) advance to next week’s Class 1B Bi-District Championship at Stanwood High School on Friday, May 16.

Chimacum boys, girls take fifth
KIRKLAND — Kyah McKinlay and Mechele Nisbet each had a runner-up finish for the Cowboys girls team at the Nisqually League meet hosted by Cedar Park Christian at Juanita High School.
The Chimacum boys and girls both finished fifth at the five-school meet.
McKinlay took second in the shot put and teammate Emily Amos was right behind at third place.
Nisbet finished second in the javelin, one spot ahead of teammate Bailey Castillo.
The Cowboys took third in the 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relays with teams made up of Sam Cerna, Alyssa Hamilton, Paige MacDonald and Sammy Raines.
Amos, a freshman, also took fifth in the discus.
For the Chimacum boys, Sam Golden took third in the 110-meter hurdles and long jump and fourth in the 300 hurdles.
Trevon Noel placed fourth in the shot put, while teammate Jonny Rogers took fifth.
Chimacum will compete at the Stanwood Twilight Invite today.
