Sequim faces Kingston at league tourney

PORT TOWNSEND — A poor third set stung Port Angeles and led to a 3-1 loss to Kingston in an Olympic League 2A Division volleyball tiebreaker.

The Roughriders fell 25-19, 13-25, 25-11, 25-20 to the Buccaneers in a neutral-court contest at Port Townsend High School on Wednesday to decide the third and fourth seed to the league tournament.

Outside hitter Kiana Robideau led Port Angeles with 13 kills and added eight digs and three blocks. She also served 12 of 13 with an ace.

Middle blocker Alyssa Sweet added six kills and two blocks for the Riders.

Setter Callie Hall totaled 21 assists and two digs and served 11 of 12 with an ace for Port Angeles.

The Riders (6-7, 7-8) hosted Olympic in a loser-out contest late Thursday.

Sequim 3, Bremerton 0

SEQUIM — The Wolves swept the Knights 25-21, 25-10, 25-19 to reach double digits in the Olympic League 2A Division win column.

Sequim (10-2, 12-2) will begin postseason play against Kingston at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Olympic League Tournament at North Kitsap High School.

The Wolves’ tough service game led to the win against Bremerton on Tuesday.

“Ella Christensen had an excellent serving game, [going] 15 of 16 with five aces,” Sequim coach Jennie Webber Heilman said.

“She aced Bremerton the last point of the first game.”

Lillian Oden also did well on serve.

“Bremerton also had a tough time passing serves from Lillian who went 12 of 13 with an ace,” Webber Heilman said.

Oden also led the team in assists with 10.

Adrienne Haggerty totaled a team-high nine kills and four stuff blocks, along with 11 digs in the win.

Isabelle Dennis added 12 digs and five perfect passes.

“After a slow start in the first game, we dominated the match,” Webber Heilman said.
