Forks wrestling second at Patriot Dome Classic

TACOMA — Forks came in second as a team, losing only to 3A Lincoln at the Patriot Dome Wrestling Classic this weekend.

The Spartans had two weight champions and three other wrestlers finish second. They finished just 1.5 points behind Lincoln.

Colby Demorest won the 195-pound division and Luke Dahlgren won the 285-pound division.

Coming in second were Cru Demorest at 145 pounds, Hayden Baker at 160 and Josh Salazar at 195 (losing to Colby Demorest).

Last year’s 106-pound state champion, Josue Lucas, is now wrestling at 126 pounds. He came in second, losing only to Port Angeles’ Daniel Basden.

Hayden Queen came in third at 160 pounds, while Colton Duncan came in fifth at 138.

Forks next wrestles in the Granger Ironman Invitational on Saturday.

Sequim at Seahawk meet

SEATTLE — Sequim’s Petra Bernsten won the 140-pound girls’ class at the Return of the Seahawk wrestling meet Saturday at Chief Sealth High School.

Assistant coach Rich Hay said two JV wrestlers, Zack Koch at 145 pounds and Noah Eveland at 285, also went undefeated at the meet.

Sequim will next wrestle at Bremerton today in an Olympic League 2A dual.
