13 individuals from Olympic Peninsula schools win subregional titles

RAYMOND — The Forks boys wrestling squad won the District 4 Subregional championship, winning five weight divisions and sending 12 wrestlers to the championship matches in their division.

With five first-place finishes and seven second-place finishes, the Spartans dominated subregionals with 346 team points. Second was Rainier with 188. The Forks boys have won nine tournaments so far this season and are ranked No. 3 in the state among 2B schools.

Winning their divisions were Conner Demorest at 126 pounds, Walker Rondeau at 132 pounds, Kaleb Blanton at 152, Nate Dahlgren at 182 and Sloan Tumaua at 220.

Making it to the championship match and finishing second were Abraham Montealegre at 106, Jesus Garcia-Dominguez at 113, Braden Camacho at 120, Kevin Camacho-Roldan at 132 (losing in the championship match to Rondeau), Walker Wheeler at 145, Aiden Ivey at 160 and Sebastian Qunneke at 195.

Colton Hunt picked up a third place for the Spartans at 138.

Other Forks wrestlers who placed include:

Bryan Lucas, 113, fourth.

Adrian Sanchez, 152, fifth.

Mason Leinan, 160, fifth.

Jon Parker Jr., 170, fifth.

Eight teams from the Olympic Peninsula competed in subregionals or league meets around western Washington this weekend, with regionals coming up next weekend.

Port Angeles boys

BREMERTON — Port Angeles’ Raymond Rodriguez won an Olympic League championship at 120 pounds at the league tournament held in Bremerton this weekend.

Several other Port Angeles wrestlers placed.

Ethan Abrams made it to the championship match at 145 pounds, finishing second overall.

Finishing third were Alex Burrow at 113 pounds, Adric McBride at 132, Thomas Arand at 182 and AJ Martinez at 160.

Cooper Nees was fourth at 126 and Jake Lyster fourth at 132.

Cash Coleman was fifth at 120 and Anthony McMahan was fifth at 138. Oscar Ruiz came in sixth at 152.

Port Angeles finished fifth at the meet with 163 points. North Kitsap took first with 366 points.

Sequim boys

BREMERTON — Sequim’s Cayden Beauregard won his 106-pound weight division at the Olympic League meet. He beat his teammate Aiden Galvin in the championship match as Galvin picked up a second-place finish.

Ryan Spelker finished second at 113 pounds, while Ari Skov was third at 170 pounds.

Other Sequim wrestlers who placed included:

Sam Shinkle, 160 pounds, fourth.

Dylan Bowen, 182 pounds, fifth.

Roger Burwash, 160 pounds, sixth.

Azuriah Sylvester, 120 pounds, sixth.

Caleb Crookes, 285, sixth.

Sequim finished sixth in the league with 115 points.

East Jefferson boys

TACOMA — East Jefferson picked up three first-place finishes at the West Central District 1A subregional meet.

Winning their weight divisions were Grady White at 126, Manaseh Lanphear-Ramirez at 145 and Jameson Henery at 152.

Making it to the championship match in their weights and finishing second overall were Ike Banks at 145 and Lars Wakefield at 285.

Other East Jefferson wrestlers who placed include:

Isaiah Johnson, 120 pounds, third.

Rylen Kruse, 170 pounds, third.

Devon Bennett-Anderson, 220 pounds, third.

Beau Manuel, 285 pounds, third.

Port Angeles girls

BUCKLEY — Port Angeles had three girls who made it to the championship matches of their weight division at the Girls 1.2 Subregional held at White River High School.

As a team, Port Angeles finished fourth out of 20 schools with 103 points. White River won the subregional with 261.5 points.

Natalie Johnson at 100 pounds, Willow Harvey at 125 and Julia Baeder at 130 all finished second. Coming in third was Faye Dachs at 110 pounds and Sam Smith was sixth at 130 pounds.

Forks girls

SHELTON — The Forks girls finished third as a team at the District 4 North subregionals with two girls finishing first and three more making it to their championship matches.

Winning their weight classes were Peyton Johnson at 115 pounds and Lillianna Galeana at 105. Making it to the championship match and finishing second were Flora Horejsi at 105, Natalie Horejsi at 110 and Miley Blanton at 120.

Coming in third were LaRayne Blair at 100 and Jameson Demorest at 120. Allie Coons at 100 and Riley Tjepkema at 140 both finished sixth.

Forks finished with 134 team points. WF West won the subregional with 206 while Aberdeen came in second at 174.

East Jefferson girls

BUCKLEY — East Jefferson’s Mi Amada Lanphear-Ramirez won her 115-pound weight division at the Girls 1.2 Subregional held at White River High School.

Lanphear-Ramirez was one of four East Jefferson girls who placed. Melody Douglas made it the championship match of her 155-pound weight division and finished second. Chloe Lampert came in third at 120 pounds and Ivy Hill was third at 130 pounds.

East Jefferson as a team finished fifth with 90 points, just behind Port Angeles.

Sequim girls

BUCKLEY — Sequim’s Isabella Diaz came in sixth place at 120 pounds at the same Girls 1.2 Subregional. Sequim finished 20th with nine points.
