WESTPORT — Wrestling in all those tournaments this season against bigger schools paid off for the Forks boys, as the Spartans dominated the District 4 1B/2B subregionals held Saturday, winning six weight classes and taking first place by a wide margin.
Forks collected 322.5 points with a total of 18 boys placing in their divisions. Second-place Rainier was well behind at 131 points. Sixteen Spartans will move on to regionals next weekend.
Six Spartans won their divisions as Forks was especially strong at the light and middle weights — Abraham Montealeagre at 106 pounds, Jesus Garcia-Dominguez (113), Conner Demorest (120), Dalton Kilmer (126), Jake Weakley (145) and Hayden Queen (182).
Three other wrestlers made it to the championship match of their divisions to finish second — Walker Wheeler at 138 pounds, Nate Dahlgren at 170 pounds and Sloan Tamaua at 220.

• Sebastian Qunneke, 182 pounds, fourth.

• Kevin Camacho, 132 pounds, seventh.
• Gunner Rogers, 160 pounds, eighth.
• Hector Dominguez, 220 pounds, eighth.
Forks girls
ABERDEEN — Forks’ Peyton Johnson won her 110-pound weight division at the girls subregionals and will move on to regionals.
Forks Natalie Horejsi finished fourth at 120 pounds, while Jameson Demorest finished fifth at 135 and Alexis Koskela sixth at 115.
East Jefferson
SILVERDALE — The East Jefferson boys picked up three first-place finishes and came in third at the West-Central District 3 1A Subregionals this weekend.
East Jefferson had 128 points as a team. Vashon won the subregionals with 221 points, while Klahowya had 135.
The Rivals did well at the big weights.
Logan Massie won the 170-pound weight division, while Gage Berry won at 195 pounds and Lars Wakefield won at 285.
Finishing in second place was Devon Bennett-Anderson at 195 pounds. He was pinned in the championship match by Berry as 195 pounds was an all-Rivals final.
The Rivals also collected a trio of third-place finishes. Sam Lampert came in third at 170 pounds, while Elliott Pflueger was third at 220 and Beau Manuel was third at 285.
Ike Banks was fourth at 145 pounds.
All the East Jefferson boys who placed move on to regionals. Banks will be an alternate.
East Jefferson girls
In the girls’ subregionals, East Jefferson’s Mi Amanda Lanpher-Ramirez won her 115-pound weight division.
Chloe Lampert was third at 140 pounds, while Savanna Hoffman was fourth at 125 and Melody Douglas was fourth at 135.
East Jefferson finished eighth with 46 team points. Bethel won the girls’ tournament with 111 points.
Lanpher-Ramirez moves on to regionals, while Lampert, Hoffman and Douglas are all alternates.
Sequim, Port Angeles girls
SEQUIM — Port Angeles finished sixth at the girls subregionals, while Sequim was 19th.
The Roughriders tallied 94 team points, while Sequim had 31. White River won with 224 points.
Kennedy Bruch had the top finish for the Riders, making it to the championship match of the 130-pound weight division and finishing second.
Natalie Johnson had a very busy day, going through the consolation bracket and finishing 5-1 on the day to come in third at 100 pounds. The Riders’ Willow Harvey was fourth at 125, Faye Dachs fifth at 115 and Bailey Anderson fifth at 140.
For Sequim, Petra Bernsten had the Wolves’ top finish, coming in sixth at 140 pounds. Jordan Hegtvedt was seventh at 115 pounds and Isabella Diaz seventh at 120.
Regionals will be held next weekend. Forks will go to the 1B/2B regionals in Adna, East Jefferson to the 1A regionals in Hoquiam. Port Angeles and Sequim will be going to 2A regionals in Orting.
Port Angeles and Sequim girls will be going to White River, while Forks and East Jefferson girls will go to regionals in Aberdeen.
