Olympic Peninsula wrestling squads placed among the top five teams at various invitationals around Western Washington this weekend, with the Forks girls team having the best showing, coming in third at the Lad and Lasses Tournament in Fife.

The Spartan girls continued their strong season with a third-place finish at the Lad and Lasses Tournament. The only two teams that outscored the Spartans were both from bigger classifications. The Spartans nearly came in second with 129.5 points. Washington, a 2A school, was second at 133.5 and Hazen took the meet with 181 points.

Peyton Johnson at 120 pounds took first with three wins, two pins and a technical fall, while Jade Blair was first at 125 pounds with two straight pins.

Kinley Rondeau (100 pounds), Flora Horejsi (105) and Lillianna Galeana (110) all finished third in their weight classes. LaRayne Blair (130 pounds) and Riley Tjepkema (135) both finished fourth. Vivianna Luna at 120 pounds won a pair of matches to finish sixth.

Forks boys at Sgt. Norton

RAINIER — The Forks boys wrestling team competed at the Sgt. Norton Memorial with Abraham Montealegre winning his 113-pound weight class. Montealegre won with a pin, decision and technical fall. In the championship match against Derrick Chavez of Zillah, Montealegre won with a pin at the 6-minute mark.

Overall, the team came in a solid seventh out of 16 teams with 110.5 points. Powerhouse Zillah won with 233.5 points.

Jon Parker Jr. came in fourth at 175 pounds, winning four matches on the day. Kenneth Daman also finished fourth at 285, also with four wins.

Simeone Jackson-Cruz finished sixth at 132 pounds, going 3-3 on the day. Dominick Sanchez also finished sixth at 106 with a pair of wins. Orlando Camacho at 120 pounds won two matches as did Braden Camacho-Roldan at 126. Luis Ornelas won a pair of matches at 157.

Sequim at Ron Baze

HOQUIAM — The Sequim boys had an outstanding meet at the Ron Baze Invitational in Hoquiam, with two weight champions, and finishing a solid fifth as a team.

The Wolves got championships from Jaymes Vilona at 144 pounds and James Mason at 157. Vilona won four straight matches, three by pin and one by technical fall, while Mason won with a pin and a 13-9 decision over Mekhi Richardson of Tumwater.

Dylan Bowen made it to the championship match at 215 with three straight pins. He ended up finishing second as he was pinned at the end of the third round.

Brandon Bair was third at 106 pounds and Ryan Spelker fourth at 126 pounds. Clayton Abrams won a pair of matches to finish sixth at 190 pounds. Max Silvilli won two matches at 285 and Aiden Glenn won two matches at 165.

Sequim finished with 137 points and was only 10 points out of third. Tumwater won the meet with 248.5 points.

EJ, PA at Island Invite

BAINBRIDGE — The East Jefferson boys finished fifth at the Island Invitational in Bainbridge, while the Port Angeles boys came in 10th out of 15 teams.

Grady White was a champion, taking first at 157 pounds. He went 4-0 on the day, winning the title match with a pin over Ian Standifer of Spanaway Lake.

Manaseh Lanphear Ramirez made it to the championship match at 150 pounds, winning three straight, all by technical falls. He fell in a 7-1 decision to Magnus Michaelson of Bremerton in the finals.

Silas Klontz at 190 pounds also finished second, winning two straight matches by pin. He lost in the finals in a 15-2 major decision to Gabriel Happli of Olympic.

Rylen Kruse at 175 came in third, going 4-1 on the day and Aidan Powell at 285 had a busy day, going 4-2 to come in fourth. He nearly came in third, but lost the third-place match on a one-point tiebreaker to Jayce Lopez of Lincoln.

Levi Donahue at 190 pounds and Mason Iverson at 215 pounds and Ethan Perovich at 175 all finished fifth.

For Port Angeles, Cooper Nees at 157 and Oliver Martinez at 165 both came in third. Martinez went 5-1 on the day while Nees went 4-1.

John Labbe at 215 pounds and Michael Wilhelm at 285 both finished sixth. John Grubbs won a pair of matches at 138.

East Jefferson finished with 130.5 points, a solid fifth, while Port Angeles had 71 points. Spanaway Lake won with 290.5 points.
