YOUTH BASEBALL: Port Angeles 12U falls to 1-2 at World Series.

ALACHUA, Fla. — The runs came early and often in Port Angeles 12U’s Cal Ripken World Series National Division pool play contest with Gilchrist, Fla. today [Friday].

Too bad it was Gilchrist putting up the big numbers, as Port Angeles fell 19-1 to the southern side in a four-inning mercy rule contest.

Port Angeles allowed four runs in the top of the first inning, three more in the second inning and six apiece in the third and fourth innings in the loss.

Despite a 1-2 start to pool play, Port Angeles is still alive for one of the three spots in the World Series’ single-elimination bracket, which begins Monday.

Port Angeles will play the Santa Fe Force (2-0) Saturday at 5 p.m. and face Sweet Water, Ala. (0-3) at 10 a.m. Sunday.
